💡 One important thing I've learned from Spanish schoolA couple of weeks ago, my 5-year-old son graduated from pre-school in Barcelona. It was not just him, but also me who learned something! In just one year, he achieved so much there: he learned basic Spanish (faster than I did!), mastered counting and writing, and developed important skills like conflict resolution and making friends.At an end-of-year meeting, I expressed my concern to his teacher that my son is the youngest in the class and the only one for whom Spanish isn't a native language. Plus, he is a bit shy. I feared he might not be as successful as his classmates.Her response was enlightening:"We never compare the successes of some children with others; we compare each child only with themselves: in what they have improved and how they have changed."This perspective has reshaped how I view progress and success, both for my son and for myself. It's a powerful reminder that true achievement lies in personal growth and self-improvement.
